RISE Above, Recreation and Inclusion Services for Everyone, is the City of Lakewood's
therapeutic recreation program. We firmly believe that everyone, regardless of ability, deserves choices and options for health, leisure, recreation and wellness in pursuit of enhanced quality of life. In addition, we believe that it is imperative to provide a wide variety
of programming encompassing recreational, educational and therapeutic
services to individuals and groups with all types of disabilities. In conjunction with this belief, we provide the following services: year-round programming, Inclusion Services, and Camp Paha.
Year-Round Programming: We provide several recreation and leisure opportunities year-round for children and adults of all ability levels. Examples of our programming includes after school sports programs for youth and teens, social dances
for adults, bowling league, field trips to musuems, athletic events, and plays, Special
Olympics athletic training, recreation and leisure classes and overnight trips to various locations around Colorado.

Inclusion Services: RISE
Above staff provides inclusion assistance and reasonable accommodations
for individuals with disabilities in our regular City of Lakewood
recreation programs. More specifically, our inclusion services provide
direct support for participants with disabilities in general recreation
class in the form of adaptive equipment, 1:1 support/instruction,
etc. Reasonable accommodations include working with recreation staff
to increase accessibility to a program. If you or your child is
interested in Inclusion or Reasonable Accommodation services, please
contact one of our staff listed below. Individuals with disabilities
are welcome to register for any recreation classes or programs with
or without inclusion/reasonable accomodations support. Please contact
Rachel for more information.
Camp Paha: Camp Paha is a 7 week summer day camp for children and young adults with disabilities. Our campers range in age from 6 years old through age 25.
